PRIMARY PURPOSE

Under close supervision provide reception and clerical assistance for the efficient operation of the school office.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Certification(s)/License(s):

High school diploma or GED

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Proficient keyboarding skills

Effective organization, communication, and interpersonal skills

Ability to understand and follow detailed written and verbal instructions

Ability to operate multi-line phone system

 

Experience:

1+ years of clerical experience (preferred)

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Duties/Responsibilities: Receive and direct incoming calls, take reliable messages, and route to appropriate staff.
  2. Greet and direct visitors to the school. Maintain visitor log and issue visitor passes.
  3. Assist parents in checking students in and out of school.
  4. Prepare and distribute student identification cards, bus passes, and parking stickers.
  5. Assist with the receipt and distribution of student materials, including homework requests.
  6. Receive, sort, and distribute mail, messages, documents, and other deliveries.
  7. Provide clerical assistance as needed including assisting with the scheduling of appointments.
  8. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents as required.
  9. Maintain confidentiality.
  10. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  11. Comply with all district policies, rules, and regulations.
  12. Other duties as assigned.

 

Mental Demands/Physical Requirement/Environmental Conditions:

  1. Requires the ability to maintain emotional control while under stress and in stressful situations.
  2. Requires the ability to frequently sit for prolonged periods of time.
  3. Requires the ability to use standard office equipment including computer and peripherals and other instructional equipment for prolonged periods of time.
  4. Requires the ability to frequently use repetitive hand motions, including frequent keyboarding and mouse use.
  5. Requires the ability to occasionally bend/stoop, push/pull, twist, or reach.
  6. Requires the ability to occasionally lift and carry items 20 lbs. or less.
  7. Requires the ability to work and concentrate in noisy and crowded environments.
  8. Requires the ability to work with frequent interruptions.
  9. Requires timeliness and regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job.
