Provide instructional assistance to students under the direct supervision of a certified teacher. Assist in preparing, conducting, and managing of classroom activities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Duties/Responsibilities: Provide instruction to students under the direction of teacher; work with individual students or small groups.
  2. Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
  3. Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
  4. Help maintain neat and orderly classroom.
  5. Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
  6. Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
  7. Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
  8. Help supervise students throughout school day, inside and outside classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
  9. Make teacher aware of special needs or problems of individual students.
  10. Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
  11. Participate in faculty meeting and special events as assigned.
  12. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  13. Comply with all district policies, rules, and regulations.
  14. Other duties as assigned.

  1. Requires the ability to maintain emotional control while under stress and in stressful situations.
  2. Requires the ability to frequently sit and stand for prolonged periods of time.
  3. Requires the ability to walk frequently.
  4. Requires the ability to use standard office equipment including computer and peripherals and other instructional equipment for prolonged periods of time.
  5. Requires the ability to occasionally bend/stoop, push/pull, twist, or reach.
  6. Requires the ability to regularly lift and carry items 20 lbs. or less.
  7. Requires the ability to work and concentrate in noisy and crowded environments.
  8. Requires the ability to work with frequent interruptions.
  9. Requires the ability to occasionally work outside with exposure to extreme temperatures and inclement weather.
  10. Requires timeliness and regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job.
